How Can I Remove Write Protection From USB, Help

The disk is write protected error shows on my computer again. The multiple MicroCenter USB 3.1 32GB flash drives are the issue. Initially, they worked, but when I tried to copy various files and folders onto them for the first time, they showed an error. I also cannot format the disk, as the same error appears.

As we all know, the data of a write-protected USB can not be formatted or changed. To reuse it again, you need to remove the write protection from USB. Here are some practical methods to check where the problem is and how to handle it. First, it might be the problem with the USB itself. So check the Event Viewer first, and if you find the message "Device USBSTOR\Disk&Ven_&Prod_USB_DISK_3.0..." your USB is dead, and the USB can't even identify itself. In that situation, I recommend you change to a new USB.

If it's not the USB's problem, you can use EaseUS Partition Master Free, a third-party software that can manage your partitions, transfer the data to another SSD, format disk, etc. It also has a Write Protection Removal tool, offering full support to help you remove write protection from your USB.

Here is how:

Step 1. Click the download button to download and install EaseUS Partition Master.

Step 2. Select the "Toolkit" section from the navigation bar, and click "Write Protection."

Step 3. Choose the USB on write protection and hit "Disable."

This solution can solve your problem most of the time, but if it's not work, you can use File Explorer Properties Settings.

Follow the steps:

Step 1. Plug the USB into your computer, open and right-click the file with a write protection error.

Step 2. Click "Properties," find the "General" tab, and check the "Attributes" option at the bottom.

Step 3. Ensure the "Read-only" option is unchecked and click "Apply" to save this change.
