What Happens If You Delete a Recovery Partition?

I'm a newbie to the Windows computer, and I apologize if it's a stupid question. Does anyone know what the recovery partition is and what happens if you delete a recovery partition? What should I do if I accidentally delete it? Thanks in advance!

Nothing will happen if you delete the recovery partition. However, you won't be able to access Windows RE and troubleshoot issues if you delete it.

The recovery partition is designed to help you troubleshoot system issues, reset the computer, and reinstall the operating system in case your PC goes wrong. If you delete the recovery partition, you cannot perform startup repair, system restore, system image recovery, etc., when you encounter a system failure.

Therefore, it's highly recommended not to delete the recovery partition, even if it's allowed, unless you know other solutions to system failure. So, what can you do if the recovery partition is not showing on your computer?

The best choice you have is to use professional third-party software to recover it. You can use EaseUS Partition Master Professional, which has a partition recovery feature that can help you.

You can follow the guide here to restore the recovery partition:

Note: Stop performing any task on the unallocated or free space released by your missing recovery partition. If the original data saved in the recovery partition is overwritten, you'll have less chance to restore this partition.

Step 1. Launch EaseUS Partition Master. Select "Partition Recovery," choose the disk where your recovery partition was, and click "New Scan."

Step 2. After the Quick Scan, you can also run "Full Scan" if the recovery partition has not been found yet.

Step 3. Once the recovery partition is found, it will be marked as "lost." Select it and click "Recover."

Step 4. Click "Done" when the partition recovery process is over.
