Why Can't I Transfer Large Files to USB

I bought a 32 GB USB stick today for storing some programs and other things. When I was trying to copy a 4.5 GB ISO file, it said 'The file is too large for the destination file system.' But there are still 22 GB free on my USB drive. Why can't I transfer large files to my USB? How to fix this? Thanks!

A USB drive formatted as FAT32 does not support files larger than 4 GB in size. Therefore, if your USB stick says "The file is too large for the destination file system" when you try to transfer a file larger than 4 GB, it's most likely a FAT32-formatted drive.

To solve the issue and allow files larger than 4 GB to be able to be transferred to your USB stick, you should format the USB drive file system from FAT32 to NTFS.

I recommend a free disk format tool - EaseUS Partition Master. It ensures that the FAT32 to NTFS formatting process won't cause data loss.

This tool is extremely suitable for users who want to keep the files on the USB drive during the formatting. Follow the steps below to format the USB drive from FAT32 to NTFS without losing data:

Step 1. Open EaseUS Partition Master and right-click on the partition of your USB drive.

Step 2. Choose "Advanced" > "FAT to NTFS."

Step 3. Execute the task and wait patiently.

If there are no files stored on your USB drive, you can just use Disk Management to do the job.

Step 1. Right-click on the Start menu icon and open Disk Management.

Step 2. Right-click on the partition of your USB drive and choose "Format."

Step 3. Set the File system as "NTFS" and click "OK."

Step 4. Wait for the process to complete.

Some users may encounter errors while formatting their USB drive from FAT32 to NTFS. If you have the same problem, the article below contains the solutions you need.
