I get the error message 'Diskpart was unable to extend partitions beyond 2TB on a large MBR disk' on my Windows Server 2003. Does anybody know a solution to this problem? Do I have to use a 3rd party disk partitioning tool to do this? If so, which tool can I use to do this? Thanks a lot if anyone can help me.
In fact, it's a common error on an MBR disk. Disk Management and Diskpart can't extend partitions beyond 2TB because it's the MBR maximum size limit. MBR has its advantages, but one disadvantage is that MBR cannot be partitioned more than 2TB. But don't worry because you can have partitions larger than 2TB using the GPT (GUID Partition Table) partition style instead of MBR. GPT is a good fit because it has higher translation bits, and you can easily render partitions larger than 2TB using GPT.
EaseUS Partition Master Server is a trustworthy third-party tool that can efficiently help you convert MBR to GPT to break the limit of 2TB. Besides, it supports Windows Server, so you don't have to worry about its compatibility.
Now, download this tool and follow the three steps below to try it:
Step 1: Install EaseUS Partition Master Server and open it. Navigate to the "Disk Converter" section.
Step 2: Select "Convert MBR to GPT" and click "Next" to proceed.
Step 3: Choose the target MBR disk, then click "Convert" to begin.
This tool helps a lot if you don't have much experience in computing. Hope my answer works on your issue.
