Hello, I've read that the GPT disk has more advantages than MBR, and I'm ready to upgrade my HP Pavilion 15 ab522tx to Windows 11. The problem is what should I do to convert MBR to GPT on an HP laptop without losing data. I know there are commands for this, but I've also seen others encounter startup issues via this method. Is there any better and easier way to do the task? Thanks!
To convert the disk from MBR to GPT on your HP laptop without losing data, you need a reliable third-party tool like EaseUS Partition Master Professional.
If you want to perform the conversion via Disk Management, you'll have to delete all the partitions on that disk first, which means all your data will be lost if you don't create a backup for them. Plus, Disk Management only supports a non-system disk conversion.
The backup process could take hours if there is too much data. Therefore, the faster and safer alternative is EaseUS Partition Master, which offers a one-click Disk Converter feature that allows you to convert the disk between MBR and GPT without data loss.
You can follow the instructions here to convert the disk:
Step 1. Open EaseUS Partition Master.
Step 2. Go to the "Disk Converter" tab and choose "Convert MBR to GPT."
Step 3. Select the MBR disk you want to convert and hit "Convert" to start.
After disk conversion, you should access BIOS and enable UEFI boot mode to ensure the motherboard supports the boot mode of your GPT disk. The steps are listed below:
Step 1. Restart your laptop and tap "F10," "F2," "F12," "F1," or "DEL" to enter the BIOS menu.
Step 2. Go to the Boot tab and switch the Boot Mode from Legacy to UEFI.
