I used a 16GB SD card formatted for internal storage on a Motorola Moto G Peregrine, running CM13. But the phone stopped recognizing the card and asked me to insert it despite having it there. I'm wondering how I decrypt and recover the data on the card.
In view of the fact that data recovery is required, I recommend the professional data recovery software EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard, a reliable tool to get your lost data due to formatting or other reasons back, to help you with this problem.
To deal with recovering files from internally formatted SD card on CM 13, one quick solution is provided here. Since your SD card on CM 13 is encrypted and can not be recognized by the phone, the first thing you need to do is to decrypt SD card from Android's internal memory so that the Windows computer can recognize it. Then follow the steps to decrypt the internally formatted SD card on your phone:
Step 1. Go to Settings, find Storage, and choose the Storage Settings option.
Step 2. Choose Format as portable.
Step 3. Click 'Format'.
Step 4. Unmount the SD card from your phone.
After formatting the SD card as portable, the following steps are what you can do to recover your data from the SD card.
Step 1. Install EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard on your Windows PC, and connect your formatted SD card to the computer by the card reader.
Step 2. Open EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard, and choose SD Card Recovery on the left panel.
Step 3. Select your SD card and click 'Scan'. Use the file filter to locate your wanted files faster.
Step 4. Preview the recovered files and click 'Recover'.
Mind you: Better to save the restored files to another location than the original SD card.
