Clonezilla Destination Disk Is Too Small - How to Fix?

I want to avoid having to reinstall Windows 10 and all the apps, so I'm attempting to move the operating system and data from the failing drive to the new one. My source disk is a 320GB SATA Western Digital drive. Additionally, Crucial MX500 250GB is the target disk. However, the target disk is too small, according to Clonezilla. Help me!

To fix this issue, you can try to reduce the size of the partition on the original disk and copying it to the smaller drive. You can reduce the size until it is smaller than the target disk (such as 250GB), for instance, if the entire 320GB partition has 50GB of occupied space. Follow the steps to shrink the partition on the source hard drive.

  • Step 1: Press Win + X to select Disk Management.
  • Step 2: Right-click the source disk's partition and choose Shrink Volume from the Disk Management window.
  • Step 3: Input the amount of disk space to shrink in megabytes (MB), such as 5000MB, then click Shrink.

Clonezilla isn't supposed to clone a larger hard disk to a smaller one. However, many computer users have such needs when they want to replace an HDD with an SSD. In addition, Clonezilla is a command-line-based cloning tool, so it requires a high learning curve for ordinary people. Under such circumstances, you can try EaseUS Disk Copy, the best Clonezilla alternative, to help you clone a hard drive.

EaseUS Disk Copy is a practical, easy-to-use disk cloning utility to help you upgrade to a larger disk or clone to a smaller hard drive easily and quickly.
