Why Can't I Uninstall Valorant

So I downloaded Valorant a few weeks ago, and then I realized that I really don't play this game. So, I tried uninstalling it, but it requires an update. So I did update it, but it does not move. I checked my files, and nothing is there for Riot client or Valorant. Why can't I get rid of Valorant? Appreciate for any help.

There are a few possible reasons why you can't uninstall Valorant:

  • The game is running in the background.
  • Program conflicts.
  • Relevant programs or data still exist. (For example: Vanguard.)

To successfully uninstall Valorant, you can try:

Step 1. Press "Ctrl" + "Shift" + "Esc" to open Task Manager.

Step 2. Locate and end tasks for anything related to Riot client, Valorant, and Vanguard.

Step 3. Open Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program (or Settings > Apps & Features on Windows 11).

Step 4. Uninstall Vanguard first, and then uninstall Valorant.

Step 5. Run Command Prompt as administrator. Then, enter the following command lines to delete relevant data:

  • sc delete vgc
  • sc delete vgk

Step 6. Restart your PC and then go to C:\Program Files and see if there are any related files left. If so, delete them.

If Valorant still exists on your PC, you can resort to a third-party program uninstaller like EaseUS Todo PCTrans to uninstall the game.
