I have an issue with a Windows 10 PC where the mapped network drives would randomly disappear intermittently. The seeming disconnect has caused users to lose data in the past when they attempted to save a document to the shared drives, and the drives seemed to drop during the process without the user knowing. Apparently, there were also no warnings from the disconnect.
If your mapped drive is busy but not working, don't worry! Sometimes, when you connect a network drive to your computer, it will not appear or show up on your screen, and you can't access its stored data. In this case, consider removing your network drive and then re-adding it again:
This method is not 100% effective and only solves the problem of connection loss due to setup issues. If the device has not established a network connection by the time of login, the startup script won't automatically reconnect network drives. A log file will be created in the "%TEMP%\" folder. Check out the following steps:
Step 1. Copy the script file (MapDrives.cmd) to the following location: %ProgramData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp.
Step2. Copy the script file (MapDrives.ps1) to the following location: %SystemDrive%\Scripts\.
You will see a log file (StartupLog.txt) created in the %TEMP%\ folder.
Step 3. Log off, and then log back on to the device to open the mapped drives.
✨Extra Tip: Download and install EaseUS data recovery software to recover files from your network drive that are lost, deleted, or formatted by mistake in clicks! Here are the steps you can refer to:
Step 1. Run data recovery software and select a disk/partition where you have lost the files.
Note: If you don't know the exact file location, just scan the whole disk.
Step 2. Filter the files you deleted from the network-shared folder. If you remember the file name, using the search box is faster.
Step 3. Select all the files and click "Recover". You can also preview the selected files before recovery.
Note: Don't save these recovered files to the shared folder.
