Can FAT32 Be Extended?

I was trying to extend a partition, but the option is greyed out. It's a FAT32 partition. I realized that I could not change its size without activities associated with reformatting. Can FAT32 be extended? Need some help here. Thanks in advance!

Yes, FAT32 can be extended, but only with third-party tools like EaseUS Partition Master. Due to the FAT32 partition size limit of 32GB in Windows, you cannot extend it beyond that. That is why the extend volume is greyed out in Disk Management.

Therefore, you can download EaseUS Partition Master. This tool breaks the Windows limitations and allows users to extend FAT32 partition with ease.

Follow the guide here to extend the FAT32 partition:

Step 1. Open EaseUS Partition Master and go to the Partition Manager tab.

Step 2. Right-click on the FAT32 partition and select "Resize/Move."

Step 3. Drag the dot to expand the partition size.

Step 4. Click "OK" and execute the task.

Then, the FAT32 partition is successfully extended.

If you don't like third-party tools, the only option is to format FAT32 to NTFS and then extend the volume via Disk Management. However, this operation will delete all data on that partition.
