Is It A Bad Idea to Partition An SSD

Is partitioning an SSD a bad idea? I'm thinking about leaving 300GB for the Windows OS and general programs so that I can reinstall the operating system anytime without any worry. But I haven't heard about partitioning for like 10 years, so I just want to know if it's not a thing anymore. Thanks in advance!

Partitioning an SSD or not depends on your own requirements.

First of all, it is not a bad idea to partition an SSD. Having multiple partitions on a disk can bring you a better management experience on various applications and files. Besides, it is a good idea to separate OS from programs since system failure can cause data loss if you store your personal data on the same partition where the system is.

Second, unlike HDD, partitioning an SSD won't enhance or reduce its performance. Even if it does, the effect is too small to be felt.

Therefore, you can choose to partition an SSD or not based on your own needs. Personally, I recommend performing the partitioning to avoid potential system failure and data loss. If you decide to partition your SSD after reading, EaseUS Partition Master Professional is one of the most reputed disk and partition managers, which offers a variety of functions that can help you manage your drive efficiently.
