How Do I Move (Not Merely Copy) Folders/Files From One Internal Hard Drive to Another Internal Hard Drive?

I just built a new PC with a 128GB SSD and a 1TB HDD. I plan to install Windows 7 (64-bit) and some programs on the faster SSD. HDD will be used to store data and some less commonly used apps. I transferred all data from my old desktop to the C drive (SSD) via Windows Easy Transfer, but now I want to move some files to the D drive (HDD). Is there any safer and faster way to move files rather than copy/delete? Thanks!

Copying or cutting files to another drive could take a long time if there are too many or if some files are too large. Not to mention, unexpected situations during the cutting and pasting process may result in incomplete or lost data. So, to move folders/files from one drive to another, you need a professional file transfer tool.

I recommend EaseUS Todo PCTrans Professional for its "Backup & Restore" function. It can help you create an image for files and folders, and then you can restore the data in the image to another drive. This process is quicker and more secure.

Here are the detailed steps:

Step 1. Open EaseUS Todo PCTrans and go to the "Backup & Restore" tab.

Step 2. Click "Start" and "Next" under "Data Backup." Then, give the image file a name and location to save.

Step 3. Now, select the target files/folders and hit "Back up" to create a backup image file for them.

Step 4. Then, go to "Data Restore" and select the image file you just created to restore your files and folders.

Besides moving files and folders, this tool even allows you to migrate software and user settings to another drive or transfer them to another PC. Such features can also save you time and energy if you want.
